NC Prez Deuba meets Indian Minister Swaraj in Delhi

Nepali Congress (NC) lawmaker Arzu Deuba successfully underwent a hip joint replacement surgery at Gurgaon-based Fortis Hospital in New Delhi, India on Thursday.
Apr 21, 2016- Former Prime Minister and Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba, who is currently in New Delhi for the treatment of his wife, on Thursday held a meeting with Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj. 

In a meeting held at Swaraj’s official residence in the Indian Capital, the duo discussed Nepal’s current political situation and post-earthquake reconstruction projects, among other issues. Congratulating Deuba on his election as the president of Nepali Congress party, Minister Swaraj conveyed India’s continued goodwill for Nepal’s overall development, peace and stability. 

Nepal desk chief at India’s Ministry of External Affairs Abhaya Thakur, among other officials, were present during the meeting that last for about half-an-hour.

Nepali ambassador to India Deep Kumar Upadhyay said leader Deuba only held a courtesy call on Minister Swaraj amid the latter’s tight schedule.

Deuba came here in Delhi to take care of his wife and Nepali Congress lawmaker Arzu Deuba who has been undergoing treatment at Gurgaon-based Fortis Hospital. Earlier, he had said he would not hold any political meetings. 

According to his aide Bhanu, leader Deuba’s return to Kathmandu has not become certain as his wife would remain in the hospital for a couple of more days after her hip joint replacement surgery.
